Following a call to be a doctor yet interested in natural health, Dr. Winckler decided to be a chiropractor when he had a chance to experience the wonderful logic of chiropractic first hand. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, followed by Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa, graduating summa cum laude in 1983. He set up private practice in River Falls, Wisconsin, where he raised a family and worked unreasonable hours for over twenty years. His clinic grew to accommodate several doctors and a large support staff.

During that time, Dr. Winckler pursued coursework in Chiropractic Orthopedics, a 4-year post-grad specialty in diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic conditions of the human body. He also acquired a teaching certification in Nimmo Receptor-Tonus Method, a soft-tissue technique directed primarily at muscles and fascia. He subsequently taught post-grad seminars at Northwestern Chiropractic College and for the Minnesota Chiropractic Association.

In 2005, Dr. Winckler sold his practice and left the Midwest to roam the country in a camper with his wife, settling in 2009 in Corvallis, Oregon, his wife’s home town. He thinks Corvallis is fantastic. In 2010 he acquired his Oregon chiropractic license, and currently practices part-time at the Northwest Health and Healing Center, surrounded by independent talented colleagues from a variety of health professions who all love what they do. Dr. Winckler appreciates his current simplicity of practice because it allows him to do what he enjoys most: solve complex problems.

Dr. Winckler enjoys camping, biking, ballroom dance, and writing novels.
